1 - ORGANISATION
1.1 1.1 The Coupe d'Automne du Yacht Club de France « Cannes - Saint-Tropez » is organised by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez with the technical assistance of the Yacht Club de Cannes in Cannes.
The Yacht Club de France represented by its vice-president Patrice Brunet and the Yacht Club de Cannes represent the organization in Cannes.
1.2 Race Committee: The race officer is Marc Renoult assisted at the start by volunteers from the Yacht Club de Cannes and at the finish line by volunteers from the Société Nautique de Saint Tropez under Georges Korhel's direction.
1.3 Protest Committee: The composition of the Protest Committee will be posted on the official notice board at Cannes
1.4 Race offices, official notice board, flag mast ashore
1.4.1 In Cannes
- The race office is situated in the Régates Royales village. It will be open from Thursday 22nd September (see NoR paragraph VI).
Valérie Ho Tram Fou from the Yacht Club de France will register entries.
- The flag mast of the Régates Royales will be used for all signals ashore.
- The Régates Royales official notice board will be used for all notices.
1.4.2 In Saint Tropez : The race office and the official notice board will be situated in the «Voiles de Saint-Tropez » village.
2 - APPLICABLE RULES
2.1 The race is governed by:
- the ISAF rules 2009 - 2012 (RRS) and the prescriptions of the Fédération Française de Voile,
- the class rules of the "Comité International de Méditerranée" (CIM )for vintage and classic yachts,
- the measurement rules for each class,
- the NOR,
- these Sailing Instructions and any amendments.
2.2 Competitors are reminded of fundamental rule 4 of the RRS. The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.
Consequently, the skipper of each boat is responsible for any accident, material or corporal, which may be caused to their boat or crew.
2.3 By registering or participating in this regatta, each competitor agrees not to hold responsible in any way the organizing clubs or the people who help to organize the regatta.

2.5 CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
2.5.1 Changes to sailing instructions and all communications from the Race Committee and the Protest Committee will be posted on the official notice board situated next to the administration office of the Régates Royales in Cannes.
2.5.2 If a change applies on the day of the regatta, it will be posted before 09.30 am (local time) and the "L" flag hoisted.
3 - SIGNALS
3.1 Ashore
All signals flown ashore are conform to RRS Race signals.
3.2 At sea
3.2.1 Committee boat : The committee boat will be identified by a Yacht Club de France flag.
3.3 Competitors flags : Each boats shall display her class flags in her rig:
- Vintage gaff rigged yachts GREEN pennant
- Vintage marconi rigged yachts > 16.50 meters, BLUE pennant
- Vintage marconi rigged yachts < 16.50 meters, JI 8m, JI 6 m WHITE pennant
- Classic yachts ORANGE pennant
- Spirit of Tradition BLACK pennant
- JI 12m RED pennant
- TOFFINOU 9,5m YELLOW pennant
3.4 Dodgers :
Numbered dodgers will be issued in exchange of a deposit to vessels with no number in their main sail.
4 TIME OF RACE
A mandatory briefing for the skippers will be held at 09:00 am on Sunday September 25th under the tent in the Village of the Régates Royales.
Competitors should be in the starting zone at 11.00 am, ready to race, on Sunday September 25th.
5 PARCOURS
The course number will be indicated not later than 5 minutes before the first warning signal with the display of the according numeral pennant.
5.1 Course n°1
- START (Cannes)
- Windward mark (according to SI article 8)
- Gate laid at 400 m in the NE of Pointe des Issambres.
- The gate is defined by :
- an inflatable buoy to be rounded to port, the position of which is approximately : Lat 43° 20,60 N - Long 06° 43,50 E
- by a committee boat in the vicinity, (which is not obligatorily anchored), to be left to starboard, flying the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez flag.
- FINISH "Portalet" tower (Saint-Tropez).
5.2 Course n°2
- START (Cannes)
- Windward mark (according to SI article 8)
- FINISH "Portalet" tower (Saint-Tropez).
5.3. Procedure to shorten the course on course n°1
5.3.1 Immediate reduced course at the gate for one or more class(es)
The course may be reduced at this gate for all the boats or for some class (es). In this case, the committee boat will display S and Blue flags and the colored race flags of the Class(es) concerned by the reduced course. Sound signals will be done.
5.3.2 Classification with time checked at this gate
For all the boats, the race committee will assure a chronological listing at this mark, which may be used to class vessels of a class if none boat of this class has crossed the finishing line within the time limit.
6 START LINE
The start line will be between the mast of the committee boat flying an orange flag and the Yacht Club of France flag and the mast of another boat flying an orange flag and the Yacht Club de Cannes flag.
7 STARTING PROCEDURES
7.1 Several sequences are planned but may be regrouped depending on the number of competitors. Starting procedures will be announced by VHF on race channel 8, under rule 26, specified as follows:
H-10 warning signal: class flag hoisted (1 or more)
H-4 preparatory signal: P flag hoisted
H-1 P flag lowered
H-0 start: class flag(s) lowered
7.2 Yachts not crossing the starting line within 6 minutes after their start signal will be classed DNS.
Security : none starting boats shall clear the starting area.
7.3 RECALLS
7.3.1 Individual recalls will be indicated as in RRS 29.1.
7.3.2 A general recall will be indicated as in RRS 29.2.
8 WINDWARD MARK
If code flag D is hoisted on the committee boat no later than 5 minutes before the first warning signal, there will be a windward mark. This will be a RED inflatable cylindrical buoy situated to windward of the start line. It is to be rounded to port unless a green flag is hoisted below code flag D, if so it is to be rounded to starboard.
If no code D flag is hoisted, there is no windward mark and a direct start.
9 FINISH LINE
The finish line is between a GREEN inflatable buoy and the Portalet tower flying the Yacht Club de France flag.
Competitors must contact the Race committee by VHF channel 8 before crossing the line and announce their name and sail/dodger number.
10 TIME LIMIT
The finish line will be closed at 06.30 pm. Competitors who have not finished will be classed DNF.
11 VHF WATCH
The committee and competitors must keep watch on VHF channel 08.
12 RETIRING
A competitor who retires must announce his retirement on VHF channel 08 if possible and obligatorily by telephone to Marc Renoult au 33 (0) 6 85 52 08 13.
A yacht who retires must lower her class flag and hoist her national flag.
13 OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
French is the official language for the race.
The English version of the Sailing Instructions is only an aid.
14 SECURITY - CONTROL
Competitors must respect their class and national security rules.
Safety checks may be done before the start to ensure that all the required safety equipments are on board, and especially life-jackets and floating devices or life-rafts for the whole people on board for the race.
15 ALTERNATIVE PENALITIES
There are no alternative penalties (RRS 44 does not apply)
16 PROTESTS
16.1 To conform with RRS 61.1a), a yacht intending to protest must hoist a red flag as soon as possible after the incident, and keep it hoisted and clearly visible until finishing, and hail the yacht concerned immediately of his intention to protest.
16.2 Protests must be in writing and handed to the race office in the tent village in Saint-Tropez not later than 30 minutes after the finishing time of the protestor.
17 CREW
17.1 Number of crew: The Race Committee must be informed imperatively and accurately of the names of all persons on board, for whatever reason, during the race. Consequently, when registering, skippers must provide a list of persons on board under their responsibility.
17.2 Licence : all French residents on board must have a valid FFV licence. Day licences are available at the race office at the Yacht Club de Cannes.
Foreigners must conform to their own national authority.
The respect of these rules is the responsibility of the skipper who may be penalized for not respecting them.
18 RESULTS - PRIZES
The results and prizes will conform with NOR paragraph IX - RESULTS and paragraph X - PRIZES.
19 PRIZE GIVING
The prize giving for the "Coupe d'Automne du Yacht Club de France" will take place on Sunday 26th September at 20.00 during a cocktail. The place will be indicated during the skipper's meeting in Cannes on Sunday morning.
